I'm back...
May. 11th, 2006 12:49 pmHave been away for ever so long. Sometimes life just intrudes and demands that SV step aside for a while. But now I'm back, and am terribly jealous of all those of you (pretty much everyone, in other words) who's actually following the current season of SV and will see the finale this evening. Because from what I've gleaned from various LJs, it looks really exciting. The last episode I successfully downloaded (after having missed a bunch before that) was the one with junkie!Lana and everyone visiting their dead relatives -- which I loved, and OMG it's about fucking time they took Lana's needy-ness and did something interesting with it, and could that scene between Lex and his mother have been any more heartbreaking? But anyway, I haven't seen anything since that one and I'm rambling.
I saw this Advocate cover on Defamer today and it just cracked me the hell up. "How Gay Is Superman," indeed. Movie, schmovie (though I'm curious to see it) -- the folks at The Advocate have clearly been watching the same show the rest of us have been watching. I hope the wonderful people out there in SV fandom will go to town on this cover -- it just begs to be manipulated. I'm also giggling to myself, imagining a SV futurefic story in which Clark is outraged to spot this cover story on a newsstand (while Lex, of course -- though he'll destroy a few people's careers over it without stopping to blink -- not-so-secretly thinks it's one of the funniest things he's ever seen).
And speaking of Lex. Ah, Lex. To make up for my last several weeks without SV, I've been bingeing on my season 2 DVDs, and there's that scene at the end of "Suspect" -- the one in which Lionel gets shot and Jonathan is framed for it, and Clark and Lex don't trust each other and have big shouty confrontations -- and then Lex comes to see Clark at the end of the episode, and they have the most beautiful exchange. About how you can think you know somebody, but there's this darkness in them, and Lex says that people like his father bring out the darkness in others. And then Lex asks, "Are we ok?" and Clark gives him this adorable smile, and says "I'm sorry I can't help you with your father" -- and Lex's eyes are shining, and you can see he's all choked up about the fact that Clark still cares for him but he's trying not to show it because he's a Luthor and Luthors don't show their vulnerabilities, and he gives a little shrug and says "I can take him." But his voice almost breaks as he says it, and it's the most gorgeous line reading MR has ever done, and such a squeeful moment, and I defy anybody not to fall utterly in love with Lex at that moment. *sigh*
Anyway. It's good to be back. I've missed almost everything everybody has written for the last, oh, month, so if there's any brilliant new fic that I must see, I'd welcome recs. Other than that I hope everybody's been having a good spring.
