stupid #*$&% satellite
Oct. 7th, 2006 02:55 pmMy satellite is being mean to me, and will not let me download the entire new episode of SV. Or else some other piece of the technology is being mean to me, but I'm inclined to suspect the satellite. Everything seems to work just fine, it's downloading, no problem -- and then it just stops. No apparent crashes, no error message, it just stops and pretends it's finished. My first attempt garnered me 290MB out of a 360MB file. Subsequent efforts have gotten me only 40 or 50MB before it craps out. Grrr.
I might have better luck this evening, as I'm going to a friend's house with DSL, and -- geek that I am -- plan to bring my laptop and try again there. These friends are generous folks, so I'm trusting that they won't mind me borrowing their WiFi and broadband in order to get my SV fix. Should that fail, the laptop and I are spending much of Tuesday in an office that also has DSL, so I can surely get it then. Though I'd really rather not wait that long...
The 290MB file did allow me about 30 minutes of fix, at least. I'm going to refrain from posting any real thoughts about "Sneeze" (or reading anybody else's posts about it) until I've seen the entire thing, but I *can* say that so far, I'm loving it. Is it my imagination, or have the writers gotten better? With the funny and the angsty and the character development that makes sense? It seems good so far, at any rate.
Meanwhile, I'm having a lovely relaxing Saturday of lounging and reading. Weekends are excellent things.
