snowy joy

Huzzah! I've finished a draft of my Yuletide story, and it's in the capable hands of my beta-readers. I'm actually quite relieved about this, as the only other time I've signed up for a fic challenge, I left it to the last minute and then had to default. I feel like I've regained a little honor here, having completed a draft a couple weeks before deadline. The writing even went pretty well, once I got my head around what I was doing.

And in general I'm feeling fairly accomplished at the moment. Last week I got new tires put on my car, and not a moment too soon, as we've got some serious snow happening today and I had to go out this morning before the roads had been cleared. (Praise is due to the friendly folks at Mister Tire, as my valiant little car did not slip AT ALL. There was much petting of the dashboard.) Hanukkah starts tomorrow night and I am READY; twenty-four presents bought, wrapped, and sent off to their respective destinations, baby. (Why yes, I *do* have a very big family. Then again, I get a lot of gifts at holiday season, so it's okay.) I got my hair cut earlier today so it won't be all mangy and split-endy when I see my in-laws later this month; I don't especially like going to salons, but the scalp-massage that happens with the shampoo is just a delicious thing. And speaking of deliciousness, I bought some groceries, and this afternoon I'll make pizza and possibly bread (a test to see whether the dough I've learned how to make really will, as promised, work as well for panini as it does for pizza crust). AND I don't have to go anywhere else today, so I can enjoy the snow-globe view out our windows without worrying about road conditions. And now it is time for lunch. :-)
